A fantastic well done to both our Girls and Boys Hockey Teams who competed brilliantly at the ‘Blitz’ Tournament at Meadowbank. The event was organised by Ulster Hockey and allowed both Boys and Girls to experience a tournament environment.
The Girls Team have been developing very well over the last few years and today saw them play some excellent hockey against Moneymore, Spires Red, Spires White and Spires Green. The Girls won four and drew one out of their six matches scoring five goals and conceding only two. It was great to see how they have progressed as a team. A special mention to Nicole who scored all 5 goals. The team was Casey (GK), Reanna, Cody, Sarah, Aimee Th, Nicole, Aimee Ta, Lily, Ruby, Rachael, Ella and Leah.
The Boys Team faced the unenviable proposition of facing Moneymore and Donaghey three times each. (Both these teams progressed to the Ulster Finals last year). The Boys Team is in a transition period with many of last years team having left in P7. The Boys played some great Hockey and competed brilliantly in all six games. Rory found the back of the net against Donaghey and they earned a hard fought draw against Moneymore. The boys narrowly lost the remaining games but they showed enough skill to be in each game right up to the final whistle. The Team was Daniel (GK), Toby, Noah, Robbie, Joshua, Ben, Caleb, Jayden, Seth and Rory.
Well done to both Teams and we look forward to playing in more matches and Tournaments in the coming year.
