Coagh entered a girls team and two boys teams into the futsal Tournament today organised by the IFA. All three teams competed competitively and played some great football.
Coagh Girls played five matches scoring 14 goals and only conceding 4 during the tournament. Two narrow defeats to Moneymore 2:1 and Windmill 2:1 meant that the girls finished in third place. A great effort girls. Goal scorers were Caryn- 7 goals, Nicole T.- 3 goals, Nicole R.- 3 goals and Aimee- 1 goal.
Team was- Caryn, Keeley, Nicole R., Luci, Nicole T., Aimee, Casey and Lily.
Team B for the boys secured a semi final spot scoring 12 goals in their group and conceding 5. Goal scorers were Joshua- 7 goals, Daniel- 2 goals and Alex- 3 goals.
Team A won their group scoring 8 goals and conceding 3. Goal scorers were Max- 1 goal, Alfie- 3 goals, Robbie- 1 goal and Noah- 3 goals.
With both teams making the semi finals they were drawn against each other. In a really tight game the score ended up 1:1 with Noah and Joshua scoring. This set up a penalty shootout which team A won to secure a place in the final. In an excellent game of football against Windmill IPS in the final the boys unfortunately conceded in the last few seconds to lose 3:2. Alfie and Max scoring. Well done to Windmill IPS and fantastic effort from all the boys and girls from Coagh.
