Shared Education
Following last week's 'ice breaker' session, it was fantastic for the pupils to meet up again in their 'classes' to begin their World Around Us topic on Lough Neagh. Each class engaged in different lessons, which will be rotated over the coming weeks, ensuring that all pupils have the opportunity to experience each lesson.
Class 1 focused on the concept of 'Surface Tension', exploring how pollution in water can affect the surface tension of the water. It was an exciting and informative session that introduced the pupils to an important environmental issue.
Class 2 took a trip to the Ballinderry River Trust, located just outside Cookstown. The pupils had the chance to see firsthand how the Trust cares for fish and mussels and works to reintroduce them into the Ballinderry River. This hands-on experience allowed the pupils to gain a deeper understanding of conservation efforts in the local area.
Class 3 were busy conducting experiments on dissolving substances, further exploring the topic of water and its properties. The pupils enjoyed the chance to learn through practical experiments.
Overall, it was a great first week of the Lough Neagh topic, with each class offering a unique perspective on the subject. We look forward to continuing this exciting learning journey over the coming weeks.
