Tri-County Outdoor Football Tournament

3rd Apr 2025

This morning, two teams from Coagh Primary School took part in the Tri-County Outdoor Football Tournament at the Sports Arena at Coagh United. With fantastic weather, it was a great morning of football for both players and supporters.

This year’s tournament featured three trophies: Larger Schools, Smaller Schools, and the Development Trophy. Coagh Primary School entered a team in both the Smaller Schools Competition and the Development Trophy Competition.

Development Trophy Competition

Our Development Team competed against teams from Orritor, QEII Pomeroy, Bush, and Cookstown Primary School. The team showed great determination throughout the tournament, securing victories against Bush Primary School (Goalscorer - Daniel) and QEII Pomeroy (Goalscorer - Jackson). Despite two narrow defeats to Cookstown and Orritor, the team finished in a great mid-table position, which was a fantastic achievement.

Development Team:
Rhys, Logan, Darren, Daniel, Jackson, Henry, Joel, Callum, Matthew, and Bobby.

Smaller Schools Competition

Coagh Primary School competed against Donaghey, Donaghmore, QEII Pomeroy, Ballytrea, and Churchtown. The team played outstanding football, winning all five matches and scoring 11 goals while conceding just one.

Goalscorers:

  • Amy – 4 goals

  • Cooper – 4 goals

  • Shane – 3 goals

A special mention goes to our defenders and goalkeeper, who worked incredibly hard to keep so many clean sheets throughout the tournament. With five wins from five matches, Coagh Primary School were crowned Smaller Schools Cup Winners, finishing with a perfect 15 points.

Team:
Micah, Harry, Ewan, Shane, Toby, Eden, Callum, Alexander, Amy, and Cooper.

A Clean Sweep for Coagh!

This marks a brilliant year for the team, winning all three tournaments they played in:

  • Indoor Tournament (November)

  • Futsal Tournament (January)

  • Outdoor Tournament (April)

It was fantastic to see all three trophies together – a truly special achievement.

Larger Schools Competition

The Larger Schools Cup was won by Killyman Primary School, narrowly edging out Orritor Primary School by just one point in a closely contested tournament.

A Special Thank You

A huge thank you to our P7 girls, who worked tirelessly throughout the morning, recording scorers and ensuring everything ran smoothly. We are also incredibly grateful to Coagh United for providing the use of their fantastic facilities.

With 18 teams competing, it was a brilliant event, and the fantastic weather made the day even more enjoyable.

Well done to everyone who took part!
